Kepler Space Craft?

exoplanets discovered by Kepler space craft. Source
What on Earth is the Kepler Space Craft? Well firstly it's not on Earth but currently 75 million miles away following behind the Earth's orbit of the sun looking for planets orbiting other stars in the Milky way. It's actually a telescope that measures slight dips in light coming from stars far away over a period and transmits the data back to Earth so that it can be analyzed. To date the Kepler orbital Telescope has discovered more than a thousand Earth like planets with some of them being very much like Earth. Will we ever go to these exoplanets? I highly doubt it but you never know, we never dream't of being able to talk to one another from one continent to another but here we are, so who knows.
Currently the Space craft is in a bit of a pickle going into emergency mode for some unknown reason but it's still working. If you do a Google search for Kepler Space Craft there are pages and pages about the state of the craft right now but I find that a bit boring so have concentrated more on what it's supposed to be doing. Check it out but be warned, there is a lot of information.
Blessings from Geoff.

  1. This post is a day early. For some bizarre reason I keep thinking today is Wednesday. Sorry about that, Geoff.
