God's Word in 2012

How pleasant it is to have something unchanging against which we can judge what is happening in and to our world.
Think about it, everything is in a constant state of transition, even the planet is changing, not to mention the universe itself and yet there is something that has not changed in thousands of years and never will, namely God's Word. Talk about a rock!
The same principals that applied thousands of years ago are still relevant today and will be so for the entire future of human existence. And the greatest part of it is we have been given those unchanging principals in writing, not only in the ancient scriptures but in our hearts themselves. There's just no getting away from them, like trying to deny gravity or at least thinking we can overcome the effects thereof we still all land up back in the very ground from which we spring. Absolutely amazing.
The coming year will bring many things for each of us to deal with, some of them very difficult and some of them overwhelmingly enjoyable. How we choose to deal with each day and the challenges we face will determine what will happen next. It has been my experience that listening to that small quiet voice within each of us telling us which action to take is of immense value and having the faith to trust God and do what is right is always best.
My prayer for you in the coming year is; May God himself make His voice clear to you on a daily basis and may He give you the faith to know His tremendous love for you. May He also give you the strength to face each new day with the understanding that He sincerely wishes the best for you and desires your company even more than you could possibly desire anything else. God has given you His Word. Jesus came to the world to let us know in no uncertain terms, God loves you and wishes to have a relationship with you.
God bless you my friends, may 2012 bring you very close to God. With much love and gratitude for your company over the past year, Geoff.

  3. thanx for the prayer! and thanx for this blog. reading it keeps me sane. 2011 hasn't been easy but i realise its His test and I'll have to live it out...like an adventure that He has arranged for His children.

and i wish and pray the same for you. God bless Geoff!

  4. Hello Geoff, I don't remember when I found your blog, but I thank you for it and the encouraging words you have written. I always enjoy reading your fresh, insightful take on subjects, with a bit of humor and adventure thrown in for good measure. I've enjoyed your posts about your home and the surrounding area including that monsterous hill behind your house that you love to climb. You've introduced us to James and Shelly, and taken us along on your family reunion. You've shared your struggles, sorrows, happiness, and God-given wisdom. We've been given a tour of Cape Town's flora and we've even been entertained with your heroic tale of snake 'wrestling'. How do you do it, Mr. Maritz? I've enjoyed every moment, and here's to many more in 2012 and may our good and loving God take care of you and your family. (How's that for a New Year's toast my Fine Feathered South Afrikan Friend? Raise your glass and here's to a virtual *clink* with mine!)

  5. Oh, forgot what I was going to comment about. Love this post, and I love how God is a rock--not shifting land nor sinking sand! He is what we return to for truth and comfort. I thought of two verses: "The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of God stands forever." Isaiah 40:8 (and) "Your word, O Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens." Psalm 119:89
