Have you ever noticed how on leaving a movie theatre you tend to yawn? Don't you ever wonder why? Most people I've asked why they do this answer: "Because of a lack of oxygen." I'm curious to know what you think.
For me I yawn when I go on my knees to pray. Do you? Why?
If you went to a casino you would probably yawn when you get to the parking lot, In casinos they pump oxygen into the air to keep you from getting tired so lack of oxygen doesn't apply here nor does being tired because if you left at 3 in the afternoon the same thing would happen.
I have my own theory but before I expound on it I would really like to hear what you believe is the reason for this strange phenomenon.
Here is something else that probably happened when you read the first word of this post......... Well did you or didn't you.
Sneeze......... No reaction.
Cough.......... No reaction.

  1. Hi Geoff

I tend to yawn when I'm tired or bored. Sometimes I'll yawn when I see someone else yawn.

    Interesting question? :-)

  2. Never noticed people yawning while leaving a movie theater. I haven't been to a movie theater in years. Your theory sounds as good as any though. Also, maybe it has something to do with sitting in the darkness for so long or that the movie was boring. Now I'm yawning just thinking about it.

Did you see the A to Z announcement on my blog?

  3. Do they realy pump O2 into Casino's?? It is a drug and I would think, against the law and quite expensive if allowable??
Rather, they may pump outside air in. In that case it is between 19-21% O2....
I have always believed yawning is from lack of O2..and yet it is also catching. It used to be a lurk at Uni if you wanted out early. One would yawn and then another...LOL
    Good discussion.. Love u Geoff..

  4. I yawned when I looked at the photo of the yawning baby! I have heard that when we see others yawning, we yawn too. One thing is for certain, and I know this for a fact... your blog is NOT a yawn! ;D Have a great day!

  5. Thanks to all of you who read my post and especialy to those who left a comment.
